Esteban Carreras Unforsaken Toro Grande ( 6 X 52 ) is a unique cigar. Its tobacco is aged in rum barrels for 2 years before it is rolled into a cigar! The blend is an Ecuador Sumatra wrapper over a premium mix of Nicaraguan binder and filler tobaccos. The Unforsaken is medium to full in body and had hints of wood, leather, coffee bean, and spices, backed by a light sweetness imparted from the remnants of the rum barrels the tobacco was aged in.
The Herrera Esteli Toro ( 6 X 52 ) is made at the Drew Estate factory in partnership with Willy Herrera. They created a creamy, flavorful, and medium-bodied cigar with a Cubanesque style. The blend is made of tobaccos from Ecuador, Honduras, and Nicaragua, with a beautiful golden brown wrapper. The cigar is well constructed, burns well, draws well, produces a ton of smoke. Herrera Esteli is the perfect cigar for those looking for a taste of old Cuba!
Another great smoke is the Archetype Axis Mundi Toro (6 X 52 ) crafted by Drew Estates for the Archetype brand. The brand is now discontinued and these cigars are hard to find! I happen to scoop up a few before they closed their doors! The good news is you can get them now. The bad news is that I don't know for how long. As I said, this blend was made at DE. This is not an infused cigar, however. Remember, DE also makes Liga too. The Archetype was named a top 25 cigar a few years back. Impressive! The blend consists of a wrapper that is Ecuador Habano Maduro with Habano-seed Nicaraguan fillers. The taste is a bit spicy with hints of coffee and natural sweetness. The body is medium to medium-plus. Great cigar after dinner!
The Bella Artes Robusto Extra ( 5.5 X 52 ) is another cigar that reminds me of traditional Cuban cigars. AJ has created a special cigar that has tasting notes of cinnamon, cedar, sweet tobacco, citrus, and a hint of pepper. The wrapper is a newer hybrid that AJ had created just for this blend. A good medium body cigar, AJ knows how to make great cigars!
